Enlighten me...
Was making fried sesame ball and noticed that peanut sugar mix turned sour, same with the black sesame variant i made. Though none of the sesame nor peanut is bad.
Sugar smelled fine, but when we isolated the issue. We tried mixing sugar with sunflower oil or sugar with water, it is noticeably sour to the taste. Not much sweetness, but sour.
Why? Was the sugar spoiled? Bad storage, but it wasnt clumped up or melted or had moisture in the container though.
Or is it because the water in Europe is "hard water" where a high trace of calcium exist?
