Pickling Veggies

I have not ventured into pickling and know it would bring a lot of flavor to sandwiches or tacos. Let’s say I want some pickled red onions and make myself a jar. Once finished, you are left with pickling liquid. My question - should I toss out the remaining pickling liquid and start fresh or am I okay to reuse the liquid for the same vegetables?
