I want to make cake pops with leftover cake. How should I coat them?

So I baked Claire Saffitz’s birthday cake and I wanna use the leftover cream cheese frosting and funfetti cake. I know I can mix the two together for the inside but is there any way I can use the frosting as a ganache-esque substitute to coat it? If not what would make the best coating for that flavor profile? I don’t really wanna use chocolate. I have a pretty expansive pantry but I don’t mind buying new ingredients. Thanks in advance!
