How do I use a carbon steel griddle on a ceramic stove?

Hello,

I'm thinking of investing in a carbon steel griddle. It's going to be used indoor on a glass ceramic stove.

But, how do I use it?

Do I just turn on two of the stove's hotplates (is this the right word in english?) and place the griddle so it covers both of the hotplates? If so, would it be a problem if the two hotplates would be uncovered at either end of the hotplate? I will post an imgur link in comments for reference.
