Chicken livers have a small smell (thawed in fridge overnight)?

Hi everyone. I’m a bit new to cooking organ meats. I do like chicken livers so I bought some from a small local meat market. The package was dated on 7/23/24. They said they freeze them as soon as they get them in. I bought these around noon yesterday and let them thaw in the fridge overnight and just took them out to marinate. They have a small smell, not like crazy but like idk how to describe it. They look fine though. I cut them up. Also is it normal for them to have a bit of a slimey texture? I rinsed them in cold water. The smell is almost a little metallic.
