Unopened Laksa Paste from 2020

I have a sealed unopened jar of Laksa paste with a date of 2020 stamped on the cap.

I’ve heard you can use unopened jars of curry paste for 3-4 years past this date if sealed. Is this true or terribly misguided and I should toss? I figured I’d ask before learning the hard way.

Edit: The reason I’m asking is because I live in a small MT town in the middle of nowhere. Unless I ordered online, I’d need to drive over 3 hours to the nearest Asian market.
