Cooked marinated chicken got to hot, has slight burnt taste. Is it ok to leave cooked chicken in a tub of water in the fridge so as to get the burnt taste off?

Like say I just toss the fully cooked chicken into tupperware then fill it with water...then put it all into the fridge. If I come back 5 hours later, will the chicken be good to eat still?
