A few times now I have frozen ground chicken because it was going to go bad before I had time to use it. I’m freezing well before expiration (3 days prior to sell by date).
When I take it out to thaw in the fridge, I will usually take it out 2 days prior to using it. When I cook it, the smell is disgusting. It doesn’t smell or look off when it’s raw.
I don’t know if it’s a rotten smell but it’s certainly off putting enough that I’ve tossed it each time. It’s almost like a strong strong mayo ish smell.
Am I doing something wrong? Thawing too long? Or is the quality just going way down from freezing and thawing?
