Served a sliced ribeye

Been a rough couple of weeks so I went and took myself to dinner last night at a new spot in my neighborhood. Ordered a ribeye medium rare with frites and an arugula salad. This isn’t super fancy place but they offer high end fare and 12 dollar cocktails so it’s not what I’d call cheap. I was a little floored to receive the ribeye, sliced (thankfully across the grain) with herb butter and juices kind of sloshing on the plate. Is serving this cut…usual? I’m in the Washington DC area and I wouldn’t have expected this most places. I did gently let my bartender know, again they’re a new place so maybe just figuring something out.
