Help troubleshoot ice cream recipe

I am following this recipe and my ice cream does not set

Using americana brand ice cream maker.

I think the culprit is alcohol content

Would I be able to cook the mixture to remove alcohol? Would this affect milk and cream? Can I whip it to speed up churning?
