Have jalapeños gone weak this season or have I just become immune?

This winter I haven’t gotten any kick from raw jalapeños. I pulled sliced raw jalapeños out of a Banh Mi and inspected them because I genuinely thought they were green bell peppers. Same thing has happened two other times this month. They used to give a spicy kick and pack a lot of good flavor. Now… it tastes like a bell pepper.

Have I just lost the taste? Or is there something about the crop this season?

Anyone else in the same boat?
