Can I use less than day old rice for fried rice?

I read a lot online that when making fried rice you want day old rice, but I really want fried rice tonight, is there anything specific I can do with my rice after cooking it to make it a little more suitable for fried rice? Is it a big deal to use rice that isn't a day old? I'm pretty new to cooking so any explanations you guys have would be awesome! Thanks!
