Help recreating a local restaurant’s eggplant appetizer

There is a Afghan restaurant in my area that has an amazing eggplant appetizer. The eggplant is very thinly sliced, looks grilled, and is heavy on the garlic, olive oil, and something spicy (red pepper flakes, maybe). I want to recreate it at home, but I’m not super familiar with eggplant preparation or Afghan recipes. I also don’t have easy access to a grill, but I can if needed.
