How to bake a crumble/crisp/streusel topping on its own?

Hi all, I'd like to bake a crumble/crisp/streusel topping on its own to top a dessert with. I've tried this previously, but the whole thing melted into one large piece and the texture of the crumbles was gone. Any tips if you've done this successfully (unmelted vs melted butter, oven temp, etc)?
