I've recently bought a 80 dollar 14 inch cast iron pan and have been seasoning it and using it fine without any problems. I love the pan, but am curious as to why some pans go for $100+, and others such as the Loblaws basics, go for $16 dollars for a 12 inch cast iron pan? I'm not looking at the smooth finish pans because I know those have a reason to cost more.
From my understanding, it will not rust as long as you have a coating of oil between each use, and all the pans should be of the same material... Iron?
