Mac And Cheese taste too much like milk?

Did the evaporated milk recipe. Whole can + 1 lb of pasta, and gouda, cheddar, and american cheese. It's pretty good but eating it again i realize it tastes a lot like milk. Did I not put enough cheese? or is it just supposed to be like that. Like its cheesy and creamy and stringy but it tastes like Milk
