Hi all. I'm trying to make puppy chow and followed the directions on the back of the chex cereal box perfectly but I used milk chocolate instead of semi sweet. When I went to melt the chocolate/peanut butter/butter mixture on the stove it melted into a thick cement like mixture. Is it because I used milk chocolate instead of semi sweet? I tried it again but in the microwave because that's what it says to do on the box but I had the same outcome. I may sound dumb but I don't understand how these 3 things became such a thick monstrosity. Thanks for your help.
