Can an electric stove that only goes up to 240C heat the pan higher?

My old coil stove top died so I'm looking for a new one and I'm thinking induction. My old stove would go up to 1000F while the induction is claiming it'll go up to 240C, should I interpret this to mean the pan will also only heat up to 240C?
