Is there a way to make my knifes food release better?

Ever since I got my knife it’s had horrible food release which may not seem so horrible but in reality it sucks, food sticks on the knife and then inevitably ends up on the floor or when I’m mincing garlic I have to clean the knife every five seconds which is slow and in efficient so uhh yea is there a way to help with this?
