Is 4.5”deep x 13”wide pan decent for making gumbo and stews?

I’ve been bitten by the gumbo bug and want to make my own. I have chance to get a cast iron pan with lid that measures 13” wide and 4.5” deep (10 quarts) for a decent deal. Would this work for gumbo and other stews or should I get a standard stainless steel stock pot? Budget is about $40.
