Should my new bamboo cutting board be splintering after one wash?

Hi everyone,

My wife and I bought this wooden (bamboo?) cutting board off Amazon.

After one wash with a sponge and some soap, it looked like this, splinters coming up/off the board. Is this normal? Or did we just buy some cheapo cutting board and got what we paid for?
