Stringy Asparagus Soup

I just saw a conversation about asparagus on r/WhatShouldICook and people were raving about asparagus cream soup.

I’ve made that once with a recipe I found on Pinterest (this one I believe: https://pin.it/77z1KTc) and it came out..... stringy. It was in no way creamy or smooth.

What did I do wrong?
