What is the best way to safely thaw vacuum sealed, frozen fish?

I have a few salmon and cod fillets that I would like to thaw in the fridge overnight to eat tomorrow. I have read mixed messaging about leaving it in vacuum sealed bags... some say to open it? Does that mean to open the entire bag and place the frozen fish by itself, in a container in the fridge?

I'm a little confused here and would appreciate any insight :)
