Do silicon baking mats impart flavor to dishes?

Whether it be a plastic flavor from the mats themselves or a soapy flavor from inadequate washing?

Personally, I can’t detect any plastic or soapy flavors but my boyfriend says he does. He says they are hard to clean. Is it possible that they absorb or pass flavor onto whatever is being baked?
