Yesterday for lunch i made Kenji's Sichuan-Style Asparagus, and it was really incredible! It was super spicy, and numbing from the Sichuan peppercorns. I highly recommend it. My question is regarding how long the numbing effects might linger.
You see, I woke up this morning and felt like all the flavors I was eating: an orange, coffee, some ginger ale, were super muted, almost like i had lost some sense of taste, which panicked me because that's sometimes reported as an early COVID19 symptom. (went and got tested...waiting). My taste sense has since returned. So I started to wonder if it could be possible that the Sichuan peppers could have altered my taste buds in a way that lasted about a day.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with Sichuan peppercorns?
