Looking for advice on home-made ice cream

My favorite ice cream place just went out of business and I've decided I'm going to try to recreate one of their ice cream flavors, specifically the [lemon cookie](https://threetwinsicecream.com/products/ice-cream/lemon-cookie/) flavor.

Their version has a really refreshing, mellow lemon taste that isn't very tart at all. How can I get a rich lemon flavor in ice cream but without making it taste too sour?

Also, I have never made ice cream before, so I any general advice on how to make good homemade ice cream without an expensive ice cream maker would be greatly appreciated.
