What's the real deal with dented cans of food?

I know if you come across a tin can and theres a dent and any moisture at all then it's a no brainer to throw away.

But what about cans that have a dent but no visible signs of a breach? Like the top is still taut and theres no dimensional instability (swelling or lid popping indicating a broken seal.

Can the can of food still be used?
