Hey y'all. I don't really play games with mods, but I do like to download mods for games I like which are exceptionally impressive in terms of content.
Not long ago, the 1.0 version of a mod titled "Heroes Unleashed" was released for the original Ghost Recon, which was like 16 FUCKING YEARS in the making before the 1.0 release. Pretty much everyone who cares about the old Ghost Recon games knows about it, as it was an insane deal once it was finally released, featuring extremely realistic gameplay changes to weapons and AI and stuff, graphical updates, an enormous amount of extra realistic weapons, over 200 extra maps, and lots of other insane stuff like that. While I never cared for Ghost Recon, the effort this person put into this over such an absurd amount of time is beyond incredible to me, and I downloaded it immediately.
Another example of this would be something like the Misery mod for STALKER: COP. Whilst many people absolutely hate it and believe it to be a very poor product, it's undeniable that an immense amount of effort went into making it, with, again, completely revamped gameplay and hundreds of items and super realistic mechanics, along with hundreds of pages of guide material and stuff.
This got me curious about other mods that have this sort of level of effort put into them. I know there were a few mods for the various elder scrolls games with this sort of thing, as they were covered by all the big gaming news websites and stuff, but I'm certain there's been plenty that's been missed, like those first 2 I mentioned, which most people into gaming would have no idea about, due to the relative obscurity/outdatedness of those titles for the average gamer.
What are some other mods do you guys know that go above and beyond in terms of drastically changing the game and adding a ton of content? Like, serious stuff that's been worked on for years, not just big tits mods or graphical upgrades. Bonus points if it was something that basically got next to no attention despite being made by an insanely passionate person/people.
