Ive been looking forward to making cinnamon rolls for the longest while, & a few days ago I finally got to it. I followed the recipe as follows (I’ll copy & paste the instructions here)
For the rolls, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk with a teaspoon of sugar (you can take a teaspoon out of the ½ cup of sugar) in a large bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes. If the yeast is good, it will start to froth up.
But for some reason, my yeast didn’t froth. First, I used the redstar active dry yeast that comes in a jar, but it didn’t work. Then I used the fleischman active dry yeast packet, but that didn’t work. I figured since my mom had bought them a while ago they were dead, so I had bought a second fleischman packet.
I followed the recipe to the T and it still. Didn’t. Froth. I even whipped out my thermometer to measure the temperature of the milk, and I made sure the measurements were exact. What am I doing wrong?! :(
