Long story short, my son has profound autism and loves these freeze dried cheese sticks. They’re expensive. So I’m trying to make a standard meringue cookie but make it savory with cheese flavor and maybe some type of savory herb flavor as well.
The standard recipe I use is:
3 egg whites
3/4 cup sugar
1/2tsp white vinegar
A capish full of vanilla
I’m wondering if I can replace the sugar with something else or if it’s needed to make the crisp meringue cookie, and if anyone has ideas to make them savory with cheese flavoring without effecting texture. Of course there’s going to be trial and error, but I figured I’d see if anyone has ideas here. I’m hoping I can make this happen because the ones he was eating have been discontinued and I managed to find something similar but A) they could be discontinued eventually too and B) They’re pricey and I’m broke 😅
