Recipe question - melted butter in pancakes

I've been using this recipe for GF banana panckes: https://meaningfuleats.com/gluten-free-banana-pancakes/#wprm-recipe-container-36123

It calls for melted butter to be mixed in with the wet ingredients (milk and egg). I make sure to cool the butter after I melt it on the stove top, but every time I've made this so far, the moment I add the melted butter to the wet ingredients I start getting these weird clumps.

At first I thought the small amount of heat in the butter was cooking the egg, so I tried adding the melted butter to the milk first, but the same thing happened!

I like this recipe a lot and I want to keep using it, but this melted butter step is really throwing me off. Is there something I'm missing here? Or a better way of mixing that ingredient in? Is it just supposed to be clumpy and weird?

Thanks in advance!
