USA chocolate taste yucky and changed from a couple of years ago. Where to get good-tasting chocolate?

I am a chocolate fancier. I have had dark chocolate bars and milk chocolate in the last year and this year that just tastes "off'.

The US-made chocolate flavor has changed drastically for me in mouthfeel and taste. It seems more bitter, waxy perhaps, and less velvety.

Can someone explain what is going on?
