What kinds of foods are greatly enhanced with just a pinch of salt to convince my GF that it does not just make things salty?
I have recently started to cook over the last couple years and have read and watched every cooking tip/guide video out there(Net Shaq is the best). I have incorporated salting as I go and have definitely seen a massive difference in salting things correctly to enhance flavors.
However, my girlfriend has a pretty big aversion to salt specifically, sometimes not even salty things. For example, hard aged cheeses that I find insanely salty she will eat with no issue, but once she made a big fuss when she felt the salt crystal I sprinkled on top of her avocado toast. There are other times such as sauces, gravies or soups I would make that would just taste bland without salt, but with it she would say it's too salty.
I tried to explain to her that there are just certain flavors you miss out on when salt is not added, but she does not really believe me. I want to conduct a taste test of certain foods that are greatly enhanced with just a pinch of salt to show her what I’m talking about, such as grapefruit or my personal weird opinion: milk. I was wondering what other easy foods or snacks could I give her side by side with salt that could convince her of this idea?
