Made baked beans from scratch. After cooking for 12 hours they are still hard.
Step 1: followed instructions on Beans package for a rapid soak. Boiled beans for 10 minutes, then let sit for an hour on the stove. Beans were 30% softer at this point.
Combined beans with sauce, bakes at 400 for 4 hours. I was actually nervous about overdoing them. Tried them, about 60% softer than the start.
Finally, I turned the oven to 200 and let them cook, covered, for 7 hours until I woke up.
These beans are still hard. They taste amazing but there's still a crunch. What have I done
