I bought cornmeal instead of masa harina bc the recipe I was looking at didn’t specify and I just assumed… can I somehow turn it into the other? Also can I cut parchment wrappers myself or is it different from the roll?
I’ve seen some people use baking soda for the alkaline base, could put the cornmeal in a cheesecloth and soak it in that and blend to be finer and just use less liquid in the dough. No idea if it would give the same results but I couldn’t even find corn husks at my latin market so I don’t know if they’ll have masa, I already made the beef so I don’t wanna quit. I need to pick up some anchos so I’ll check while I’m there but if I can’t find it should I try the above and experiment? Also bc I can’t get corn husks I’ve heard you can use parchment paper but it looks like the parchment tamale wrappers is different from the roll of parchment paper so I don’t know if I can just cut out the shape myself😐 this is very annoying pls help
