Canned vs Fresh

So I want to make my favorite tomato basil soup recipe. It calls for 3 28oz cans of peeled whole tomatoes. Is there a way to substitute this for fresh tomatoes? I sometimes get the “canned” flavor and want it to be fresh as possible! I attached the recipe below!
