How do you wash and dry fresh herbs without crushing them?

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but I’ve been making a lot of caprese salads and I want to be able to wash and dry fresh basil to put on the salad without ruining the fresh whole leaf look. Usually if I’m cooking with herbs I run them under the faucet and give them a little wash with my thumbs while cupped in my hands, and then dry them in a paper towel, because it doesn’t matter if they get crushed if they’re just going in a recipe. But I’m not sure how to do this when you want the herbs fresh and intact. Thank you! (And if my cupped hand washing method is totally wrong, please let me know!)
