Hi there,
As a kid we had a handwritten recipe from my grandmother called Cheese Nibbles, we called them cheese biscuits (not like american biscuits, to me those are more like scones, this is like.. a savory cookie?)
Unfortunately the recipe was thrown out after my mum passed and I haven't been able to make it in some years but I would really like to. I've spent ages googling and I can't find a recipe that seems to match, most seem flakier, more like pastry than what I remember.
What I remember:
Recipe was made in one pot
You melt the butter in the pot first, I'm sure of that. No idea if there was milk or eggs in it or if/when that would be added.
Add dry ingredients, I'm sure there was flour and mustard powder, maybe paprika or a red spice but not a lot. Then add the cheese to the warmish mixture in the pot.
You mix it all in the pot, its relatively dry, and when its all combined you roll it in to balls, crush with a fork and bake, they are best eaten warm as the biscuits have a lovely soft centre when warm.
They aren't sweet so I don't think there's any sugar.
That's all I recall.
I'd really love to recreate this recipe, I have only positive memories baking with my family and i'd love to recapture that again.
Let me know if there's anything else you need and I do appreciate any help and advice.
