Dried or cured peppers?

Has anyone ever used dried peppers? I grow my own and have quite a few different hybrids but I just have so many. Most are habanero or above because I can't give away my reapers and such to anyone I know. I was thinking of salt curing, smoking, and drying a bunch to use as one would dried herbs. I also wonder if it would cause the 3:1 for dried to fresh as we see so commonly with herbs.
