Hello there, in celebration of 7th Year Anniversary of Guild wars 2. I would like to remind mmo players out there, that there's always time to give this game a try.
Why I should care?
That's an interesting question, if you're a hardcore gamer, who would like to explore other mmorpg, you might been curious which one would suit your cup of tea, either it's WoW, FFXIV, ESO from Western market or join the shady Eastern market, I've been a veteran within mmorpg and played various mmorpg as my experienced envolved I'd call Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 as a home for me to come back and spend more time with it.
Is Guild Wars 2 relevant again ?
Yes, due to a huge viewer count on twitch ( at top 18 category http://prntscr.com/oxf63f <- screenshot.) Special thanks to https://www.twitch.tv/mightyteapot & everyone within Guild Wars 2 community for making the game relevant again.
Total views was 17k+, this is kind of last screenshot. it was bouncing between top 20, top 21 to top 18.

Due of influx and viewership on twitch (guild wars 2 performed less than any mmo out there due of most of playerbase in-game doing (meta events, WvW, PvP, Open world meta, Raids, Fractals, guild missions).
What's the cost of Guild Wars 2?
Guild Wars 2 initial release date August 2012 price at $59.99 USD, that had potential improvements after some of flaws, after solid 3 years, ArenaNet announced Heart of Thorns which is the first expansion to be expanded into heart of maguuma and the story line picks there (no spoilers).
Heart of Thorns price at September of 2015 $59.99 with all content add is "free", it had some backlash from hardcore players who enjoyed core gameplay, where "core gameplay offered a play for free, which means you can play the entire core game for free with some restriction which can prevent from (botting/chat spamming/whisper spamming.)
Path of Fire price at September of 2017 was a various one, $29.99 standard, deluxe $54.99.
Summarizing cost
Guild Wars 2 as a core game is "Play for free" with restriction, if you don't mind them and want to give it a try
Guild Wars 2 (Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire as standarded edition cost: $49.99) with this price you get what both expansion introduce or you can pick 1 expansion, bare in mind, if you're into "Raids", if you picked up "Path of Fire" only for $29.99, you won't be able to participate with Heart of Thorns raids.
Is there any sale!?
Yes sometimes there's a sale during August, September, Dec, March or April around 30% to 50% for both expansion.
In my own opinion give the game a try before buying you will have about over 65 hours of free content just playing Guild Wars 2 as a core game.
What does both expansion introduce from core game?
Heart of Thorns.- Gliding (ability to glide from a high cliff and land safely, but you have to train it with mastery point to be able to perform gliding).
- Itzel lore, Exalted Lore, Nuhoch Lore, (Raid locked&hidden) unlocked by doing raid , Anicent Magics,
- 4 Raid wings, it's a weekly clear with gold and some bonuses.
- Mastery Points to "Core game and Heart of Thorns"
- Mastery level, instead of raising the cap level.
- Elite Specialization (Consider as an upgrade for your character i.e: from Warrior to Berserk Specialization.)
- Lore in depth (can be soloed or can be parted up with your friends to reach the same goal)
- HoT Event metas (there's 2hours intervals of the heart of thorns metas, which means you can take break if you're tried)
- Revenant Class
- Improvement towards WvW, optimize elite specializations to 9 different classes, fractals improvements.
Path of Fire
- Upon release of Path of Fire ArenaNet introduced 5 Mounts (Raptor, Springer, Skimmer, jackle), then later on introduced Griffon, Roller beetle, Warclaw(Unlockable doing WvW) and last Skyscale.
- Full story line towards Path of fire picking up the story from Heart of Thorns related to "core game story line".
- Another 9 Elite specializations (i.e HoT: Berserker and Path of Fire: Spellbreaker).
- 3 Raid wings with 2 raid wings have an insane encounters to new raiders, which can punish the entire group into a wipe for not understanding the mechanics. (Hardcore raiders loving it). my personal hope that they are working on the 4th raid wing for Path of Fire.
- Master level related to mounts.
- Master level cap increased.
- New fractal been added, 9 different classes with 9 different elite specializations, insanely huge maps compared to core game, living season 5 coming soon™ so if you picked the game up the entire living season 5 will be free content.
- Bounty system.
How long to level up from 1 to 80 ?
Core Game: Usual speed by average 5 to 7 hours a day about (5-7 days) depends on your time or taking it slow no rush
Heart of Thorns: ^ Mastery level
Path of Fire: ^ + Mastery level
Is Guild Wars 2 Casual friendly?
In some parts yes there's friendly players out there, also there's parts like competitive scenes, Raids, Fractals have some toxic players as well.
We all have them in some way or other in some games.
How long will it take me to do end content?
In guild wars 2, end game content isn't defined at all, some folks finding PvP, WvW, Raids and Fractals as end content and others debating about the map meta of HoT and PoF. End content is what you make out of the game.
in summary end content can be whatever you would like to do.
- Farming, Raid, WVW, PvP, PvE world bosses, Events, Meta events within the expansions, Fractals, Dungeons or maxing out another character or maxing out crafting.
It's up to you as a player.
What's the Population on guild wars 2?
All PvE content (Dungeons, Fractals, Raids, World Bosses, Meta Events, Storyline, Guild Missions) (PvP maybe??) they are based on mega server, you can play together
WvW each server have their own WvW unless their WvW population is low they are going be linked to high population server of WvW.
